Alec Stephens, Vapour Cloud
Vapour Cloud has appointed Alec Stephens as account director, as the company prepares for over 50 per cent revenue growth this year.
With more than 15 years of experience in the technology sector, Alec began his career as an inbound contact centre agent.
He went on to progress through telemarketing and account executive roles when the business became ntl:Telewest, and subsequently Virgin Media.
Now, he will be responsible for new business development the length and breadth of the country, particularly for network and voice projects. He will also support existing clients with their ongoing digital transformation journeys.
Siân de Groot, Pick & Mix
Pick & Mix Marketing, one of York’s marketing and social media agencies, has appointed a new social media marketing executive following a strong start to the year.
Siân de Groot joins the small York-based team after receiving a distinction in her language and linguistics Master’s degree, researching online communication.
Siân also worked for a year in Hong Kong as an English tutor and editor, enabling her to develop her teaching and writing skills.
Sally Parker, managing director at Pick & Mix Marketing, said: “We’ve enjoyed a wonderful start to 2019 as there is a strong demand for our services.
“Small independent businesses who either don’t have the knowledge or time to make their marketing or social media work for their business are seeking our help.”
John Moore, Sparq
Sparq, part of Saville Group, the technical event production specialist which underwent a brand transformation just six months ago, is further strengthening its senior leadership team with the appointment of John Moore as head of national operations.
Moore has been brought on board to spearhead Sparq’s ambitious growth strategy and oversee the operational direction of the brand, as it continues to develop its 360 technical event production offering.
Moore’s remit will focus on improving efficiency across the division, developing and implementing strategic change, together with growing the specialisms and expertise within the national operations team.
Heidi Hawkins, KC Communications
Huddersfield-based PR and marketing agency, KC Communications has commenced 2019 with two major client wins and the appointment of an account executive to support its growth.
To support the company’s growth and efficient delivery of client projects, Heidi Hawkins has joined the business as account executive.
Heidi joins KC Communications with experience of working as part of an in-house marketing team and with a degree in Business Management from the University of Huddersfield.
KC Communications were awarded the contract for Propel@YH, an accelerator hub for digital health innovation targeted at SMEs in the Yorkshire and Humber region.
The project which has been commissioned by the Yorkshire and Humber Academic Health Science Network (YHAHSN) seeks to bridge the gap between businesses and the NHS.
Daniel Pingstone and Thomas Kennelly, Secerna LLP
Intellectual property specialist, Secerna LLP has welcomed two new trainee patent attorneys to its team in York.
Doctors of philosophy, Daniel Pingstone and Thomas Kennelly have joined the established intellectual property law firm to support a growing worldwide client base of multi-national corporations, FTSE and NYSE listed companies, universities, spin-out companies, small businesses and innovators.
Daniel completed a Masters degree in physics and a nanotechnology PhD, both at the University of York.
Thomas joins the Secerna team with a biophysics PhD, a Masters degree in physics - both from the University of Sheffield - and experience from the National Institute for Health Research (NIHR).
Thomas said: “I knew that I wanted to move out of academia into industry, to a role that would enable me to take my technical knowledge and experience in a different direction to academic science. Intellectual Property law allows me to do exactly that.”
