Start your career with Specsavers this National Apprenticeship Week
This National Apprenticeship Week (March 4-10) Specsavers stores in Fallowfield, Swinton and Wythenshawe are encouraging people to sign up to the apprenticeship programmes on offer at the store.
There are several different apprenticeship opportunities, including the Optical Dispensing Diploma and Lab Technician course. The scheme is open to anyone from the age of 16 including recent school or college leavers or those looking for a new challenge, all that is required is a grade D or higher in GCSE Maths and English.
Training lasts for 13 months and many of those – 94% across the whole business – take on a full time role at Specsavers when they have finished their training.
Shaun Adams, apprentice at Specsavers Wythenshawe, says: ’Since I was 11 I was full time carer for my mum, and at 24 years old it was difficult to find an inspiring career option due to my lack of work experience.
’Completing my apprenticeship scheme at Specsavers Wythenshawe has enabled me to achieve a qualification on my own merit, while opening so many doors of opportunity.
‘I have recently become qualified as an audiology practitioner and my next career goal is to complete the HAD qualification. My five year plan is to be a Hearcare partner within the business and be able to provide the highest quality hearing services for the community I grew up in.’
Amanda Pedder, store director at Specsavers Wythenshawe, Swinton and Fallowfield, says: ‘We’ve had four apprentices across our stores and they have all been fantastic. It’s great to watch them grow as people and see them develop as members of the team.
’The Specsavers apprenticeship programmes are a fantastic way to begin a rewarding and successful career and our training has been viewed as best in the sector by Ofsted.
‘As long as you’re a hard worker, punctual and ambitious you will do well at Specsavers and there is plenty of opportunity to continue with your development.’
