New Yorkshire veterinary recruitment specialist puts local animal charities at its heart

A newly launched Yorkshire veterinary recruitment specialist has pledged to donate a minimum of 25% of its net profits to three regional animal and children’s charities and one national. VetFinders is the brainchild of Chris Worthington who built and sold Dewsbury-based engineering recruitment firm Qualtech Resourcing for a seven-figure sum in 2016. From its headquarters in York, VetFinders recruits for permanent and locum positions for veterinary practices throughout the UK, from administration roles through to nursing staff and vets. They are currently working with over 400 practices across the UK that have over 300 jobs that need filling.

Alongside Chris in the VetFinders team are recruiters Gabrielle Dawson and Martin Wilson, both with over 15 years’ experience in recruitment. Chris’s wife, Anna, is in charge of accounting and payroll with over 20 years’ experience, and administrator Suzy Buttress completes the team, she is also a fundraiser for Hope Pastures, one of VetFinders’ nominated charities.

Chris said: “VetFinders is a business with a purpose, a business with a force for good and a business with a double bottom line! Our approach is totally unique in the industry and it’s what sets us apart. Candidates are already hearing about our message and registering with VetFinders rather than other agencies. “We have chosen four specific charities and our support for them does not stop at the point of donation. We will also be working closely with them, funding specific projects and working on their front line.”

The chosen charities are:

• Hope Pastures, in Leeds, which rescues, rehabilitates and re-homes horses, ponies and donkeys. It opened its doors in 1974 and has helped countless animals since then. The charity also provides the opportunity for people to meet the animals and learn more about them.

• Moorview Rescue in Harrogate, which has re-homed almost 2,000 dogs in the UK since it was set up as a registered charity in 2009. Most of the dogs rescued by Moorview have come from council pounds and were at risk of being put to sleep within seven days if they had not been claimed by the charity, which cares for them until they find new forever homes with suitably matched owners.

• Nuzzlets, a small charity based near Great Ouseburn in York. It specialises in giving loving homes to unwanted animals and enabling young people free access to them for therapy and education. Nuzzlets specialises in visits for children with disabilities, special needs and life-threatening illnesses. It also helps adults with mental health issues.

• Blue Cross, a registered charity that has been helping sick, injured, abandoned and homeless pets since 1897. It provides support for pet owners who cannot afford private veterinary treatment, helps to find homes for unwanted animals, and educates the public in the responsibilities of animal ownership. It helps thousands of pets in need every month.

VetFinders is currently sponsoring the rehabilitation of Darcy, a German Short Haired Pointer, through her rehabilitation at Moorview Rescue.

The VetFinders donation was made possible after the company placed candidate Katie at a vet practice in Surrey.

Joanne, of Moorview Rescue, said: “Thank you to everybody at VetFinders, this donation will see Darcy through her whole rehabilitation process. We are so grateful to VetFinders for choosing us as one of their partner charities.

“As a small charity, this support will make a huge difference to us. It is heartening and admirable to see a company making charity work a core element of its business, especially from day one! We’re really looking forward to working with VetFinders and wish them every success as a new business.”

When a candidate is placed by VetFinders, the client can choose which of the four charities they want a percentage of their fee to be donated to. The client and placed candidate will then be given regular updates of how their money has benefitted children and animals, including through photos, videos, emails and website updates. VetFinders will be 100% transparent on this.

The team has a wealth of experience recruiting on behalf of large corporate veterinary companies, individual practices, animal hospitals and charities.
