Teesside Business Gives Support to Children’s Homes
AirCon Group, the Thornaby based air-conditioning, refrigeration and heating specialist that can boast a diverse national customer base, has donated £2,400 to residential children’s homes in Sunderland.
Set up more than 50 years ago in 1963, the business has continued to succeed through its customer driven and family orientated ethos and has supported several good causes over the years.
When selecting a cause to receive this latest donation, it was that family ethos that prompted the decision to give to support the children in the organisation’s care.
Steve Farrell, Managing Director, at AirCon explains: “A member of our team is a Foster Carer who has looked after 11 children over the past seven years.
“We were looking for an organisation that supports disadvantaged young people and it was our colleague who suggested Together for Children.”
Together for Children, deliver children’s services in partnership with Sunderland City Council and have four children’s homes that each care for six young people. The homes are all rated either good or outstanding by Ofsted.
Steve Renwick, Director of Finance, at Together for Children, said: “We are very grateful for this generous contribution that will help to facilitate short breaks for our young residents.
“It was a pleasure to meet the AirCon team and outline our plans that will put the donation to good use. We pride ourselves on just how homely our accommodation is and dedicated residential teams strive to offer young people, who may have lacked opportunities, a range of activities.”
