Social media network to boost international profile of London businesses
A Chinese social media network has partnered with the Mayor of London’s official promotional agency to boost the city’s profile in Asia.
Sina Weibo is collaborating with London & Partners to boost the capital’s profile with its 465 million users.
The partnership aims to raise the profile of London businesses with the platform’s users, encouraging tourism as well as facilitating new connections with Chinese businesses and organisations.
Laura Citron, CEO of London and Partners commented: “London and China share strengths in innovation, talent and culture and we are hugely excited about our collaboration with Sina Weibo.
“The possibilities truly are endless and we are looking forward to working with the team on some interesting new ideas and projects together.”
Sina Weibo also hopes that the collaboration will raise awareness of its platform in the UK, visiting London last month to launch the partnership and boost its brand.
During the visit tourism partners including the British Museum, V&A, Edwardian Hotels, Heart of London Business Alliance took part in a roundtable event, as well as events with LSE, Imperial College and UCL to look at the relationships that international students have with the city’s economy.
Jennie SO - GM International, SINA Corp & Weibo Corp added: “We were excited to have our #MeetUpWithLondon# last month, which is the result of a strong collaboration between London & Partners and Sina to deepen our relationships and improve collaboration in many areas such as tourism, culture, education and business.”
