Andrew Curtis, Clarion

Andrew Curtis is the latest lawyer to join Clarion’s expanding banking and finance practice.

With 10 years of legal experience, Andrew takes up the role of associate having previously worked for an international law firm where he advised UK clearing banks, international debt funds, pension funds, national and international borrowers.

He has experience of providing advice to both lenders and borrowers on a variety of different financing deals, including real estate finance (both development and investment), leverage finance and general corporate finance.

Andrew also has experience of providing finance advice to the private equity market and advising lenders on the listing of borrower clients.

Andrew has advised clients across a variety of sectors including healthcare, professional support, digital gaming and environmental.

Head of Clarion’s banking and finance practice, partner Marie Pugh, said: “Over the last three years, we have developed a niche in the field of asset based lending and bridging finance, acting for more alternative lenders than any other team in Yorkshire.

Nick Rymer, Eddisons

Eddisons has appointed Nick Rymer as the firm’s new associate director head of architectural services. He will be based in the Leeds offices with a UK-wide role.

RIBA affiliate Rymer joins Eddisons with more than 20 years’ experience in the construction industry.

During that time, he has worked across a wide range of significant projects, including undertaking measured surveys of all the UK’s HM Passport and HM Land Registry offices.

Eddisons’ national head of building and project consultancy, Ian Harrington, said: “Demand for our services is constantly growing across the UK and we are really pleased to welcome a colleague of Nick’s calibre.

“His appointment will give Eddisons a strong architectural dimension, enabling us to assist schools, among other clients, to deliver projects from conception to completion and to provide a complete turnkey service.”

Shabnam Shahid and Mark Williams, Scanlans

Surveying and property management firm Scanlans has strengthened its Leeds office with two appointments.

The new recruits are property manager Shabnam Shahid and commercial surveyor Mark Williams, who each have extensive experience of the Yorkshire market.

Shabnam has joined Scanlans from Leeds-based Watson Property Management, where she worked for more than five years. Mark has moved from Dacres Commercial, which has six offices in Yorkshire.

The appointments come amid strong growth for Scanlans. The firm has secured a raft of recent property management deals across West and South Yorkshire, including sites in Leeds, Allerton Bywater, Rotherham and the village of Wentbridge, near Pontefract.

Alongside property management, Scanlans provides commercial and residential property valuations and surveys, building surveying and LPA Receivership services.

Scanlans chairman, Ian Stanistreet, said: “Mark and Shabnam join as part of our strategy to grow our presence in Leeds and serve our expanding client base in the region.

“They are great additions to the team at a time when we are seeing surging demand for our services across a buoyant Yorkshire market.”

Nikki Davies, Ben Johnson Recruitment

Yorkshire-based Ben Johnson Recruitment has appointed Nikki Davies as principal consultant within the finance division.

Nikki will be working alongside director Gemma Stirrup, and will be applying her recruitment expertise to work with clients across the region and find talent for their finance vacancies.

Ben Johnson Recruitment is a York-headquartered recruitment company, specialising in financial and facilities roles throughout the UK.

It is part of well-known York company Ben Johnson Ltd, which comprises Ben Johnson Interiors (workplace design, build and furniture supply) as well as Ben Johnson Recruitment.

Nikki said: “Being a genuine person and sincerely wanting the best outcome for all parties, has allowed me to grow long-standing relationships.

Joanna Wild, Leeds Bradford Airport

Leeds Bradford Airport (LBA) has appointed Joanna Wild as chief commercial officer.

Joanna is experienced in the airport and retail sectors, delivering profit growth, commercial success and customer excellence.

She has joined LBA after working for Thomas Cook Airlines, holding the role of director of customer services, before moving to Thomas Cook Group PLC as managing director for UK retail.

Now, reporting directly to Hywel Rees, chief executive officer, Joanna will focus on the strategic commercial priorities for the airport including airline partnerships, commercial offering and passenger experience.

She said: “I am delighted to be joining Leeds Bradford at a very exciting time and look forward to working with the team. Delivering a successful aviation and commercial strategy is high on my agenda working closely with airline partners and travel retailers.”
