Best Companies reaches fundraising milestone with £1.5million in client pledges for UK charities
Employee engagement specialists, Best Companies, is celebrating a fundraising milestone, after its clients pledged more than £1.5million in donations to charities across the country.
The organisation which is behind the annual The Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For lists, set up the fundraising initiative to encourage organisations to make donations to a charity of their choice.
The initiative gives every organisation taking part in the annual Best Companies’ surveys the option to donate to a charitable cause that’s close to their hearts. Organisations pledge a chosen amount of money to their selected charity for every survey completed, so if more employees take part, a larger amount of money is pledged.
In just over eight years, the initiative has seen 1,278 organisations commit money to more than 1,500 different charities; including Children in Need, MacMillan Cancer Support, Cancer Research UK and Mind.
Jonathan Austin, Founder and CEO at Best Companies said: “It’s fantastic for the company to be able to celebrate reaching such a huge fundraising milestone. We’re thrilled that our surveys have played a part in helping to raise money for more than 1,500 charities so they can continue their vital work.”
Over the past 20 years, Best Companies has conducted thorough research to identify the key factors that are most important for employee engagement in the workplace. The data shows that Giving Something Back, one of the eight factors of the Best Companies Methodology, is strongly correlated with overall engagement levels, suggesting that employees who work for an organisation with CSR initiatives in place are likely to be more engaged.
Jonathan continued: “Our research shows that companies with high workplace engagement levels have employees who feel more motivated and productive because people take pride in what they are doing and have faith in those around them. This leads to better working relationships, greater collaboration and ultimately a more successful organisation.
“An opportunity to give back to charity through their workplace can positively influence an employee’s engagement levels, and the fundraising initiative has been incredibly successful, so I’d like to say a huge thank you to all of our clients that have pledged funds over the years. The huge amount of money raised makes a real difference to every single chosen charity.”
Best Companies use a world-class methodology, created in collaboration with academics at the University of Plymouth, to measure workplace engagement and help organisations make improvements to their business through a series of surveys and data-led strategies.
The company has been compiling The Sunday Times Best Companies to Work For lists since 2001. The annual lists include The 100 Best Companies to Work For; The 25 Best Big Companies to Work For; The 100 Best Small Companies to Work For and The 100 Best Not For Profit Companies To Work For
