Co-working space and rooftop bar to join Sheffield’s Heart Of The City II development
A vacant office building in the centre of Sheffield is set to be transformed into a new serviced office facility and rooftop bar.
38 Carver Street, in the city’s Heart Of The City II project, will be fully refurbished and turned into a mixed-use development with workspace and a bar.
Property management firm Staton Young is working with Sheffield City Council and strategic development partner Queensberry to bring serviced offices concept Cubo to the site, as well as rooftop bar Alto.
Cubo, which already has sites in Nottingham and Derby, specialises in co-working space, private offices, meeting rooms, printing stations and designated desks for hot-desking, and will occupy the five-storey building.
In addition to workspace, Cubo will feature table tennis, football tables and games consoles in the communal areas, as well as space for yoga and wellness classes.
The top floor of the building will become home to rooftop bar Alto, which will offer skyline views of the city as well as a range of beverages.
Cllr Mazher Iqbal, cabinet member for business and Investment at Sheffield City Council, commented: “We are delighted to announce yet another new business coming into the city. 38 Carver Street is a property with great potential and this exciting plan and will bring something special and unique, boosting both our business and social offer.
“It’s another sign that we are delivering the compelling mix of office space, residential and nightlife that will put the city head and shoulders above others in the country. In this case, 38 Carver Street will see several uses under one roof bringing a new personality and vibrancy to one of our most interesting buildings.
“We purposely targeted a modern office operator like Cubo. We hope its emphasis on coworking will provide more opportunities for smaller and start-up companies within the creative and digital industries.”
