Businesses Join Forces To Support Families In Food Poverty At Christmas

The North East Initiative on Business Ethics (NIBE) is working with Sage and Networking group, Inspire Good to support a Christmas foodbank appeal.

A festive event will be held to support Feeding Families, a charity that provides food hampers to alleviate hunger and support those struggling with the added pressures of Christmas.

The event will take place at the Sage headquarters on December 5th, where coffee, mince pies and Christmas choir entertainment will be provided.

Guests will hear a talk from transformational speaker and business coach Lisa Bean. There will also be an opportunity for business networking.

All guests are invited to bring a food donation to contribute to the Feeding Families Hamper Appeal.

Kevan Carrick, Chairman of the North East Initiative on Business Ethics, said: “We are delighted to be involved in this event which combines personal development, business networking and the joy of giving to support those less fortunate.

“The North East Initiative on Business Ethics was established to encourage the carrying out of responsible business and to challenge where ethical behaviour has fallen short of acceptable practice.

“We are a group of volunteers operating a not-for-profit organisation with the overall objective of ensuring that our region, the North East of England, is a good place in which to do business.

“We are delighted to be working in partnership with Sage, the host of this year’s event, and Inspire Good, to raise money for the Feeding Families Christmas Hamper Appeal. “This goodwill and effort shows that business has a heart and is not solely driven by a profit motive.”

Lindsay Philipps, Executive Vice President of Product Delivery UKI at Sage, said: “We’re delighted to welcome NIBE and Inspire Good to our headquarters to help raise awareness of the North East Ethical Business Network and raise money for Feeding Families Christmas Hamper Appeal.

Networking group Inspire Good was founded to provide a support network that connects businesses and charities, so that they can work together and learn from each other. The initiative is led by businesswomen Jennifer Robson and Clare Aitken.

Jennifer Robson said: “We’re excited to join forces with NIBE to hold this event at Sage and highlight such a fantastic charity.

“We are all about doing good and the beauty of bringing these charities and businesses together is that we all help each other.”

The Inspire Good December gathering costs £10. Proceeds will be split between the Feeding Families Hamper Appeal and NIBE.

The festive event at Sage HQ will take place on December 5th, from 9:30-11.30am.
