£7m Teesside builders' merchant development to create new jobs
A North East village is set to become home to a new construction trade development set to create 15 new jobs.
Plans for a new £7m trade-focused project in Skelton near Redcar have been unveiled by Carnworth Estates.
Situated on land adjacent to Pheasant Fields Lane retail park, the development comprises a 10,000 sq ft unit and an additional 3,500 sq ft of mezzanine space, with three blocks of trade counters extending to around 38,000 sq ft around the perimeter of the site.
If approved, the development - set to be taken by a national builders’ merchant - could create up to 15 new jobs in the retail park, which is already home to brands such as Asda, B&M, Sue Ryder, Greggs, Marston’s and Aldi.
National planning consultancy Lichfields has been appointed by Carnworth Estates to take proposals forward for the project, which is scheduled to commence late next year subject to approval.
Robert Dibden, associate director at Lichfields in Newcastle, commented: “The proposed scheme would build upon the successful emergence of Pheasant Fields Lane as a popular destination.
“It can deliver a number of benefits for Skelton with new jobs and a new national brand for the area.”
