James Teagle, Bevan Brittan

Law firm Bevan Brittan has appointed James Teagle as a partner in its property disputes team.

James joins Bevan Brittan’s Leeds office from Blacks, where he was a partner and the head of the property disputes team.

James has experience of resolving land and property-based disputes, including those centring on business tenancy renewals; service charge, rent review and dilapidations disagreements; and disputes around restrictive covenants, easements, trespass and claims for possession.

James commented: “I am delighted to be joining Bevan Brittan. They have a thriving Leeds office and a strong national presence advising clients on property and estates disputes and litigation as well as a host of related issues.

“It feels like a great fit for me and I am really looking forward to this new chapter in my career.”

Tom Brown and Ben Sparrow, Wish

Integrated marketing agency Wish has appointed Tom Brown as senior developer and Ben Sparrow as digital project manager.

With over ten years’ experience in the events and retail sectors providing web solutions for corporate clients, Tom has a background in developing high availability and scalable web applications and is proficient in an array of languages and platforms.

Commenting on his appointment, Tom said: “I am delighted to be joining Wish and am looking forward to getting stuck into some fantastic projects.

“Wish impressed me with their commitment to producing exceptional, cutting edge digital work and their passion for bringing ideas to life. It’s an exciting time to be here.”

Ben has a degree in business management with marketing from Leeds Beckett University and experience in the retail sector.

Ben commented: “Wish has an exceptional working environment and a real variety of client accounts to work on.

“I am really looking forward to expanding my knowledge and building relationships with all our clients.”

Robert Barnard, Lupton Fawcett

Law firm Lupton Fawcett has appointed Robert Barnard to its business recovery and insolvency department as client services principal.

Robert has more than 20 years’ litigation and business recovery experience, and has previously acted for financial institutions including Yorkshire Bank and Skipton Building Society, covering all aspects of the credit process through to litigation and business recovery.

Experienced in both the consumer and commercial debt sectors, Robert is also involved in the growing commercial debt purchase market providing guidance and support to clients. He is a member of the Chartered Institute of Credit Management.

Nigel Whitfield, head of business recovery and insolvency at Lupton Fawcett commented: “Robert’s breadth of experience and knowledge of debt and business recovery will enhance the professional services we offer to existing as well as new clients.”

John Handley, Redrow Homes

Redrow Homes has promoted commercial director John Handley to managing director.

John joined Redrow 20 years ago as an assistant quantity surveyor. He had a BSC (Hons) degree in quantity surveying from Leeds Metropolitan University and had previously worked for a local construction company and then Barratt Homes.

John said: “Redrow has an excellent reputation for home-growing and developing talent. I’ve been working towards this role over the last three to four years and have undertaken specific leadership training within the business designed to accelerate and facilitate the transition.

“As managing director I’ll now be looking for us to buy more land for future development, to ensure the division remains productive and profitable and, above all, to empower the team and make sure we’re all working together to provide quality new homes and sustainable communities.”

Existing commercial manager Bill Parker will now head up the commercial team, while senior quantity surveyor Stuart Hill becomes chief QS. And, in the technical team, senior designer Christopher Peatfield has been promoted to design manager.

Redrow’s Group HR director Karen Jones said: “All of these promotions are symbolic of our approach. Redrow continues to lead and inspire the next generation of homebuilders through its apprenticeships, graduate training programmes and other initiatives.”

Amy Wheeler, Yorkshire Mafia (YM)

Business community the Yorkshire Mafia (YM) has appointed Amy Wheeler as commercial assistant.

A geography graduate from the University of Leeds, Amy will take responsibility for business development and promoting the organisation’s event sponsorship packages to encourage companies to take advantage of the opportunities that they present.

In addition, having previously organised a ski festival with 5,000 sporting enthusiasts, Amy will also support the team with the planning of future drinks evenings, round table discussions and speaker events throughout the region.

Commenting on her appointment, Amy explained: “I’d heard about the Yorkshire Mafia through university but wasn’t quite sure how to get my foot in the door.

“The minute I saw the role on LinkedIn I applied straight away. I rang during my lunch break and arranged a meeting. The rest, as they say, is history!

“There’s great training and opportunities to grow and develop within my role which is really exciting. Learning corporate language and business jargon however might take a little time!”

Kevin Kiely, Medilink UK

Health technology representative body Medilink UK has appointed Mr Kevin Kiely as CEO.

Kevin was co-founder of the Medilink model over 25 years ago, which brought together in a formal regional association the health technology and related life science industry, the NHS and universities in a bid to drive innovation across the sector.

Bill Cruise, Medilink UK Chairman said, “The strength of Medilink UK continues to be the in-depth relationships that its constituent Medilink organisations have in regions across the UK.

“However, the sector is facing unprecedented challenges and opportunities, and it has become clear that Medilink UK needs to play a more proactive national role if opportunities are to be maximised.

“I am therefore delighted to announce the appointment of Medilink UK’s first national CEO, Kevin Kiely.”

Kevin added: “Having been involved in the development of regional Medilink organisations across the UK for over 25 years, and seeing the Medilink UK infrastructure grow to a point where it is now the largest representative body for the health technology industry, I understand many of the challenges facing its organisations.

“However, I can also see major opportunities, particularly for international trade, in rapidly growing markets for health technology products outside of Europe.

“I look forward to contributing to national developments that will not only stimulate growth in the health technology sector but also lead to better health outcomes.”
