Phillip Feather, Clarion

Law firm Clarion has appointed Phillip Feather to its real estate litigation team in Leeds.

Joining the team as an associate, Phillip started his career in general litigation and has specialised in real estate for the last four years.

Phillip has experience advising on a range of real estate litigation matters including lease renewals and lease terminations, break notices, possession claims, adverse possession, easements and dilapidation claims.

Phillip commented: “I’m really excited to be part of a specialist team working with such fantastic clients.

“The wide range of clients including developers, commercial landlords and tenants, funders and public bodies as well as individuals and banks, is really rare in the Leeds market and provides superb quality of work.

Nick Child and Richard Squire, Wilton Developments

Property management firm Wilton Developments has appointed Nick Child as development director and Richard Squire as development manager.

Nick has held director level roles in firms including Shepherd Developments and most recently Clugston Estates.

Richard has had senior roles also with Clugston and Shepherds amongst other regional developers, with the pair having a combined development and property experience of over 60 years between them.

Joel Turner and Alex Blaikley, twentysix

Digital agency twentysix has appointed Joel Turner as commercial director and Alex Blaikley has been appointed as media campaign director.

Both Joel and Alex have joined the agency from Epiphany. Joel will head up the sales and marketing function, whilst Alex will take on a new role focused around bringing together the agency’s media and search proposition.

Dan Kurdziej and Tim Cowley, Fired Up Technologies

Audio-visual technology company Fired Up Technologies has appointed Dan Kurdziej as chief operating officer and Tim Cowley as business development manager.

Dan brings business management experience from a range of industries, having managed businesses both in the UK and Europe.

Tim has over eight years of experience within the family entertainment sector, most recently working for SPI Global Play in Wrexham.

Ken Epplestone, Roy Flowdy and Sameh Dawoud, Smith Brothers

High-voltage power contractor Smith Brothers has made three new hires to its team.

The firm has appointed Ken Epplestone and Roy Flowdy as project managers, and has brought Sameh Dawoud onboard as civil design engineer.

Ken brings 33 years of experience within the sector, having held senior management positions at Northern Powergrid, Electricity Northwest, Carillion, Enterprise and Amey.

Roy has worked in the transmission and distribution equipment industry for over 30 years, holding accreditations for all but one of the distribution network operators (DNO) in the UK and Ireland.

Sameh has worked in the industry since 1987 after graduating from university.

In addition, Adam Kirk and James Boothroyd have completed their Utility and Construction Training (UCT) each with full-time roles as a trainee fitter and prover.

Jenni Bartram, Harrowells

Law firm Harrowells has appointed Jenni Bartram as consultant.

A member of the Agricultural Law Association and former president of the Yorkshire Law Society, Jenni qualified as a solicitor in 1981.

Jenni has experience in several areas of law involving farm businesses and landowners including partnerships, wills, taxation and succession planning, diversification schemes, including holiday and leisure developments; business tenancies, property, planning and renewable energy schemes.

Jenni, who has worked with the National Farmer’s Union (NFU) as a panel member, also sat on a legal committee of Agricultural Law Association and Central Association of Agricultural Valuers (CAAV) members on the introduction of the IAACS predecessor of the Basic Payment Scheme.

Jenni commented: “I am delighted to join Harrowells as the firm is developing a dedicated and very able team with depth and ability to look after the agricultural sector. I look forward to supporting them.

“There will be vast changes for British farming during the next five years. As we leave the EU, we currently have no idea whom our future trading partners will be and what rules and regulations will apply.

“Support under the existing Basic Payment Scheme will also end which is going to cause a large drop in income and profit for many agricultural businesses which should now be forward planning very carefully in light of these changes.”
