190-home development could create hundreds of County Durham jobs

Plans for a new North East residential development set to create hundreds of jobs have been submitted to Durham County Council.

North East planning specialist Hedley Planning Services has put forward the plans for 190 new homes in Pelton near Chester-le-Street in County Durham, on behalf of housebuilder Miller Homes.

The development, which would include a mix of two, three, four and five bedroomed houses, would create over 500 new jobs in construction, supply chain and retail.

Hedley Planning Services director, Joe Ridgeon, commented: “Plans reflect a development that will meet the needs of the local community and deliver quality new homes for the area.

“As well as a good variety of house types, the landscape proposals for the site are very strong, and would be a welcome addition to the finished development.

“As planners, we want to see the creation of exciting and rewarding housing schemes in the North East region that leave a long-lasting legacy. This one will undoubtedly see a real positive change to this part of County Durham.”
