Cervest hires new CPTO ahead of real-time climate beta platform rollout
London-based Earth Science AI startup signs ex-Just Eat C-Level Executive as it kicks off next funding round and progresses beta platform
London, 30 March 2020: Cervest, the Earth Science AI company decoding climate uncertainty to help organisations and policy makers make more informed decisions, today announces the appointment of Alex Rahin as Chief Product & Technology Officer, to help scale its tech capabilities as it rolls-out its real-time climate beta platform and kicks off a Series A investment round.
With over 25 years’ experience working with technology companies such as Just Eat, Microsoft and Amazon, Alex’s appointment underlines Cervest’s mission to accelerate climate secure decisions through Earth Science AI and the goal to combine the world’s most valued assets onto a unified machine learning platform for decision makers.
Cervest is built on years of research and development by a team of expert scientists, mathematicians, developers and engineers. Alex, who joins from global data and technology company Beamly, will lead Cervest’s Science, Product, and Engineering teams.
Cervest will arm businesses, initially in Europe and eventually globally, with the personalised insights they need to predict the risks that climate volatility presents to them. From there, any business owner - from insurers to policy makers - can make better informed, more sustainable decisions for the future of their company and our planet.
Alex Rahin, Chief Product & Technology Officer at Cervest said: “Cervest is building a platform with such advanced data that it has the ability to genuinely help how we all make decisions for the long-term future of our planet - I’m thrilled to be joining this ambitious team, at such a pivotal time for the company, and the industry.
Climate uncertainty is being felt by everyone. At Cervest I’ll be leading a growing team working to help a range of organisations manage the impact of climate volatility in the most informed way possible. It’s a unique opportunity to be able to really make an impact with technology - this is why I have chosen to join the Cervest team and their mission to pioneer Earth Science AI for clearer decision making for all.“
Iggy Bassi, Founder & CEO at Cervest added: “Through our Earth Science AI, Cervest is building the new category of climate security, allowing us to assess and respond to asset-level risk. We are on a rapid trajectory this year and Alex joins us at the perfect time. His experience, shared vision, and data scaling experience will lead our powerful team of engineers, scientists and developers as we empower everyone to make informed decisions using our platform, before it’s too late.
“Alex will play an integral role as we build out the team specialising in harnessing the power of AI to mitigate the impact of climate volatility, and roll-out our real-time climate platform.”
The appointment comes after the startup closed a £3.8 million investment round led by deep-tech investor Future Positive Capital, alongside Astanor Ventures, with participation from prominent US climate investors Lowercarbon Capital and Lionheart Ventures. The seed-stage funding round brings the company’s total funding to more than £4.5 million so far.
