Northumberland 'luxury' residential development gets green light

A new housing development in Northumberland set to deliver 58 new homes has been given the go-ahead.

Local developer Tantallon Homes has been granted permission for a new residential scheme in Longframlington.

The landowner was originally given permission to develop 17 homes on the site, known as Fairfields, but Tantallon Homes revised the plans to include 34 two- and three-bedroom starter and family homes alongside 24 ‘luxury’ properties.

Craig McClen, director of Tantallon Homes, commented: “The landowner initially secured permission for the 17 homes, and while that would have created a fantastic luxury development, what we really want to achieve is homes that are accessible and affordable for local people.

“By including 34 starter and family homes in our development, we think this better serves the community of Longframlington and gives options to young people and first-time buyers who want to stay in this village.

“The second phase will include the executive home provision, so that aspect is still there, and together we believe this will create a vibrant development which will add positively to the community.”

Tantallon was supported with the site acquisition by senior associate Catherine Davies of law firm Sintons, who also dealt with the Section 106 planning agreement.

Catherine added: “We have worked with Tantallon since its inception and are very pleased to support the team with their latest project.

“The business has built a very strong reputation in a short period of time, having only been in operation for less than six years, and we are confident the Fairfields development will be another of the highest quality. We look forward to continuing to work with Tantallon.”
