Facing COVID-19: The gift company boosting site visitors by nearly 2000 per cent with virtual experiences
A London gift company has increased its site visitors by more than 1000 per cent after adapting its offerings to meet lockdown guidelines.
The Little Surprises Company, which offers events as gifts - such as wine tastings, brunches and perfume making - has pivoted to offering ‘Virtual Little Surprises’.
The virtual offerings include DIY wine tasting, drum lessons, live comedy and cooking classes, allowing customers to gift online experiences to people they may not be able to see at the moment.
Since launching the new events, the company has seen a 1,791 per cent increase in site visitors, as well as a “definite” increase in sales.
Hannah-Beth Clark, owner of Little Surprises, commented: “My favourite thing about this is it has meant we can continue to champion small local businesses at this tricky time, spread a little joy and bring families together to do things - even when they are physically apart.
“Two weeks ago, we had the loveliest family come together and learn to sing “The Hills Are Alive” with each other.
“They were taught by a professional opera singer and even the 84 year old grandparents joined! It was brilliant.
“The income stream has changed from making a larger profit on less frequent higher ticket sales (normally a collection of three Little Surprises - each for two people - retails at £150) to a much smaller profit on each item but a much higher frequency of sales.
“The main reason initially for the switch was to maintain a presence in the market and build our customer base but it has led to the creation of some brilliant business partnerships that will continue post lockdown and will definitely change our offering long term.”
