Facing COVID-19: The entrepreneurial mum tackling the challenge of social distancing in schools
A managing director in County Durham has used her business acumen to address the issue of social distancing in schools in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Louise Stephen, MD for the North for Where The Trade Buys, developed a scheme for low-cost desk dividers to be used when schools fully reopen.
The desk dividers have been created in a range of designs and colours, with a Perspex window which allows the child to see out into the classroom while being protected.
Louise came up with the solution when thinking about how her 11-year-old son Harry would be able to maintain social distancing back in the classroom.
Louise explained: “There are parents around the country who will have the same concerns about the fact their children may be returning to school in the near future.
“So I worked with our team on the idea and we have come up with a range of stylish design templates which people can choose from, or we can work with a school to create the dividers to their specifications.
“I think these will offer a really fun, practical and safe solution to a problem that many of us are worrying about.”
