Natalie Moran, Simon on the Streets

Leeds based charity Simon on the Streets has appointed Natalie Moran as CEO.

In her new role, Natalie will oversee the running of the organisation, coordinate its outreach support and drive fundraising activities, as well as spearheading the charity’s future development and growth.

Natalie grew up in Leeds and has spent 14 years working in the voluntary sector, predominantly managing drugs and alcohol services across Yorkshire and Humberside.

She joins from St Anne’s Community Services, where she was responsible for a wide portfolio of services spanning Leeds, Wakefield and Sheffield. She also worked as part of the Leeds Street Support Team.

Natalie commented: “This is a really challenging time in which to make the move to Simon on the Streets, with the Covid-19 pandemic making the charity’s work supporting homeless people more important than ever.

“Although some homeless people are now in temporary accommodation, there is a big question about what happens next, and it’s vital that we help to shape the next chapter and contribute to the decision making process, in order to keep the region’s vulnerable safe.

“I’ve worked with Simon on the Streets a lot in my previous roles and always admired the work the charity does and how it has become a crucial service throughout West Yorkshire. There is now a big opportunity to grow the charity further and possibly expand into other areas.”

Louise Lapish, chair of trustees at Simon on the Streets, added: “Natalie brings a wealth of experience to this role spanning change management, partnership work and performance management, as well as delivering and shaping policies and services.

“Crucially, she is someone who makes a difference, with a genuine passion for creating positive change for the homeless and vulnerable in our communities, so there’s no doubt she is the ideal person to head up Simon on the Streets and drive the charity forward.”

Marc Browne and Tim Wheeler, Arcus Consultancy Services

Arcus Consultancy Services has made two senior appointments as it looks to further strengthen its UK operation.

Marc Browne, an offshore wind specialist, and Tim Wheeler, a chartered town planner with 35 years’ experience, have joined the specialist consultancy which has offices across the UK and South Africa.

Tim has extensive experience in planning and development, particularly in onshore wind, offshore wind and solar. He joins Arcus in the role of principal planner from the Planning Inspectorate where he determined more than 150 planning appeals. Tim has previously worked with major renewable energy developers, private consultancy and other UK government agencies.

Marc has experience in the renewable energy sector, in particular offshore wind, along with other sectors such as marine fish farming. He joins Arcus as offshore development manager, to head up the company’s offshore wind business, and develop and direct a growing workload in this exciting and varied sector.

“We have ambitious plans for the next five years in terms of turnover and growth. Appointing talented and experienced people like Tim and Marc, whilst supporting the development of our existing team, is tremendously important to our business.”

Andy Shaw, Fulcrum

Infrastructure and services provider Fulcrum has appointed Andy Shaw as head of business assurance.

Andy joins Fulcrum with more than 30 years’ experience as a risk and safety practitioner gained across the construction, rail, highways, utilities, mining and aviation sectors.

After starting his working life in the mining industry aged 16, Andy went on to complete a master’s degree in Risk Management and Behavioural Science before embarking on a career in health and safety, which began in the aviation sector.

Andy worked for BMI, EasyJet and First Choice Airways in roles including director of risk and safety before moving to Peel Airports as head of behavioural safety and risk management.

After a period in the rail and highways sectors, Andy entered the utilities sector as head of health and safety with Amey before returning to aviation as head of risk and safety at Leeds Bradford Airport.

Andy commented: “Fulcrum has an embedded and demonstrable safety culture, which is upheld by each individual within the business.

“Even in this challenging period working through the Coronavirus pandemic the company proved its adaptability and foresight to ensure that its workforce, customers, and the public remained safe.

“I am very proud to be joining an organisation with this level of commitment to safety and play my part in its ongoing success.”
