Life After Lockdown: The drama school teaching business leaders to make media appearances from their own homes

As the country emerges from lockdown, it’s a very different landscape for a lot of businesses.

Bdaily spoke to business owners across the country about how they’re changing their ways of working, and what innovations they’re adopting permanently after lockdown.

The Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA) is offering a new virtual training programme to help business leaders with their media performances.

The organisation said that with spokespeople working remotely in many cases, some may need to learn new skills in order to fulfil their media commitments.

The new programme uses in-depth personal feedback, coaching and direction to help develop both the technical and performance aspects of a media appearance.

Rachel Griffiths, client director at RADA Business, commented: “Media interviews are often the cause of much trepidation for our clients.

“Any media interview represents an opportunity for a leader to deliver their message in a highly visible medium, to be the ambassador for their brand, and to build trust with their stakeholders.

“Interviews are often recorded and shared across multiple channels and audiences. To ensure the opportunity is maximised, every performance should be authentic.

“A leader must be able to embody their message. They must ensure that what they are saying matches what they are feeling, thinking and behaving.

“The right media know-how can make or break for some businesses. A strong media performance can build trust, increase engagement and impact share price.

“We are extremely excited to be launching the latest addition to our virtual performance programmes, with an offering that provides business professionals with the skills and techniques to deliver an effective, aligned and powerful performance on camera and to the media.”
