Yorkshire entrepreneurs get ahead with launch of queue-jumping app
A pair of Yorkshire engineers have launched a new app to enable users to cut queues in bars and clubs.
Entrepreneurial duo Zaheer Jamil and James Bruce have launched Qcut after identifying a gap in the market.
Project engineer Zaheer Jamil and software engineer James Bruce initially came up with the idea after noting the increasing use of phones to order a range of items.
Zaheer Jamil explained: “Customers can do almost everything via their phones - order groceries, get a takeaway or hail a cab. So, it seemed natural to provide them with an app that helps them to order a drink.”
He adds: “We wanted to create an app which offered real value to the customer, and Qcut does just that. In research and testing we found that waiting to be served at the bar is a real frustration for many customers. The Qcut app is the key to customer convenience.”
Originally conceived before lockdown, the pair have seen growing interest in their app with the introduction of social distancing in bars and pubs.
James added: “The key benefit for landlords is they can demonstrate to their customers that it is possible to order, pay for and receive drinks within social distancing guidelines.
“The Qcut app also keeps their staff safe, not just their customers. Additionally, it enables them to process more drinks orders per hour with a dedicated team. The technology means that each transaction can be handled on a single payment device, reducing customer contact with card terminals and keypads.”
