This week's Yorkshire appointments
Gemma Sherbourne, LCF Law
LCF Law has appointed Gemma Sherbourne as senior associate in its corporate team.
Employment lawyer Gemma has previously worked for a number of Yorkshire law firms, as well as spending time in-house at Bupa.
Gemma’s experience covers both contentious and non-contentious work, advising in-house legal teams, HR managers and business owners on all areas of employment law.
Gemma is also experienced in tribunals, creating employee handbooks and policies, advising on employment issues during corporate transactions and providing legal training to HR managers.
Commenting on her appointment, Gemma said: “It’s a great opportunity to join a well-respected Yorkshire law firm and to ensure that clients continue to enjoy the high standards of service that both [LCF Law’s employment law team] Liz and James are renowned for.
“I’m thoroughly looking forward to the challenges that lie ahead.”
LCF Law partner, Liz Henry, added: “Employment law is changing dramatically for both employers and employees. The new challenges of Covid-19 and furlough are the next chapter.
“There is no doubt LCF Law’s employment team has the knowledge and experience to guide clients through this complex and fast-paced area of law.”
James Taylor, G&H Group
Mechanical and electrical building services firm G&H Group has appointed James Taylor as group director.
James joins from FHP Consulting Engineers where he held an executive board position, and brings over 20 years’ experience of contracting and consulting in the building services sector.
In his new role, James will focus on business strategy for all six of G&H’s divisions, including building services, renewables, maintenance, fabrication, air conditioning and projects.
James commented: “The opportunity to play a leading role in the next chapter of G&H’s growth was too good a prospect to turn down.
“A key part of my role is to make sure the six divisions within the Group all grow sustainably. Identifying opportunities at the earliest stage is key in implementing this.
Managing director of G&H Group, Graham Kelly, added: “James accepted the position prior to the Covid-19 pandemic and although there are uncertain times ahead within the construction sector, we feel the timing of his appointment is ideal.
“He will help deliver our growth strategy by enabling us to increase our exposure to new opportunities and strengthen the relationship with our existing client base that is already very strong.
“We have developed the business successfully over recent years and the addition of James to our executive board will take the business to a new level, ensuring we engage with and deliver for our clients better than ever before.”
Ella Blake, Aberfield Communications
PR agency Aberfield Communications has appointed Ella Blake as PR consultant.
With four years’ industry experience both in-house and agency side, Ella joins from Refresh PR in Manchester where she worked as an Account Manager, delivering B2B and B2C campaigns across a range of sectors including construction, food and drink, and technology.
Ella’s portfolio of clients and experience includes working in-house as Panasonic’s European PR Assistant, delivering a social media campaign for ClearPay and managing the ongoing press office for Eurocell.
Commenting on her appointment, Ella said: “Aberfield’s messaging around having a positive influence really stood out to me and when I met the team that positivity really came across! I’m looking forward to getting stuck in.”
Tim Downs, director of Aberfield, added: “We’re really pleased to have Ella join the team. It’s been a very different year, with Covid-19 impacting everyone’s way of living and working, it’s really exciting to be coming out the other side of it with a new addition to support the team, our growth and our clients, both new and existing.”
“We’ve been fortunate enough to win some new clients over the lockdown period, so Ella couldn’t be starting at a better, or busier, time!
“It’s also great to know that Ella was attracted to Aberfield by our positive influence approach, as it’s something that we believe helps us to consistently deliver great results across all of our clients.”
Daisy Marsden, Garbutt + Elliott
Advisory and audit firm Garbutt + Elliott has appointed Daisy Marsden as senior manager.
Daisy joins the firm from KPMG where she worked for 10 years in the Leeds and Birmingham offices, managing audits for AIM listed plc’s, large private businesses as well as working with charities and pension schemes.
Chris Butt, partner at Garbutt + Elliott, commented: “Daisy is a great addition to the team, with an impressive background working with some well-known blue chip brands.
“Her appointment demonstrates our commitment to invest in our people and to support our clients with fantastic service during these challenging times.”
Daisy added: “I am thrilled to be joining such an ambitious and growing firm. The last few months have been extremely challenging for everyone, but we have seen the strength and quality of many Yorkshire businesses.
“I am looking forward to sharing my expertise to help build and support our clients during this uncertain period.”
Felicity Griffiths and Charlotte Griffin, Visibilis
Digital agency Visibilis has appointed Felicity Griffiths as marketing director and Charlotte Griffin as client services director.
Both Felicity and Charlotte previously held senior roles on the management team at Epiphany, a Jaywing agency.
Visibilis founder, Ben Wolfenden, commented on the new hires: “We’re in the middle of a really exciting period of growth, and bringing Felicity and Charlotte on-board has been a pivotal part of this.
“Both Felicity and Charlotte bring a great deal of experience to the team but crucially, share the same focus and vision for the business that I do and have the right ambition and attitude to ensure we make it happen.”
Felicity added: “From the first chat with Ben and managing director Daisy I knew this was the right next step for me. With a competitive environment, it can be difficult for an agency to stand out amongst the rest but the team at Visibilis have already done a lot of the hard work for me!
“They really do excel at driving actual revenue growth for clients and better still, the client relationships are so strong that the agency already has a lot of advocates. I can’t wait to keep shouting about their great results over the coming months.”
Charlotte added: “With the industry awash with agencies, long-standing client relationships can be a bit of a rarity – but Visibilis is in the fantastic position of having over a third of its client base for three or more years.
“With a surge of new business wins in the last six months, I’m really looking forward to developing these same strong relationships and working with the fantastic team Ben and Daisy have built.”
