Boutique hotel in York’s historic city centre site given go-ahead
Amended plans for a new hotel in the historic Micklegate area of York have been given the green light.
The North Star and Micklegate Developments proposal for a new boutique hotel has been approved by City of York Council after plans were altered in response to stakeholder feedback.
Plans to redevelop the site on Micklegate – which comprises the former Jinnah Restaurant, Minster Car and Van Hire and Bar 127 buildings – were first put forward in February 2019.
Following feedback from residents, the council and other interested parties, a full redesign of the proposals took place and the Bar 127 building was removed from the plans.
A spokesperson for North Star commented: “It’s great news that the Planning Committee recognised the benefits that these plans will bring and approved our application.
“The new building will replace a detractor on this magnificent street and vastly improve the street scene and local environment, as well as representing a major investment in York City Centre.”
