Local PPE supplier introduces charity initiative to business strategy
A Birmingham based supplier of personal protective equipment (PPE) has developed a new charity initiative as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) strategy to enact positive change in society.
‘PPE for the UK’ which has been founded by serial entrepreneur Mark O’Sullivan, will soon be supporting a range of local and national charities, with the aim of giving back to causes close to the hearts of both Mark and his entire team.
Each employee within the business has been given the opportunity to choose a charity that they would like to support for a period of 12 months – an initiative that PPE for the UK will continue to offer new starters as they join the company for the foreseeable future.
Mark explained: “PPE for the UK is working extremely hard to provide a range of high-grade, quality assured protective personal equipment to individuals, communities and organisations within the care and business sectors across the UK.
My fantastic team and I are keen to help in any way we can to tackle the effects of COVID-19 as quickly as possible. To ramp up our efforts, we recently made the decision to donate 10% of our profits to numerous charities (both local and national) as part of our new business strategy. This is something that we are all passionate about and cannot wait to start rolling out immediately.“
Mark was inspired to launch PPE for the UK after watching the devastating impact of COVID-19 on care homes, charities, and other healthcare organisations across the country.
As the owner of multiple businesses across Birmingham, including leading distributor of fresh produce, BanaBay, Mark knew he could utilise his experience in sourcing and importing goods to offer support to frontline workers.
By pivoting his business strategy from food importation to the distribution of protective clothing and facemasks, Mark is now supplying hundreds of organisations with vital PPE equipment, ranging from Type IIR masks to a full sanitiser range, now officially branded as PureSan.
For the next 12 months, the firm’s chosen national charity will be NHS Charities Together, as the crisis within the NHS was a major contributor to the founding of PPE for the UK. Local charities include Prospect Hospice, Tim Bacon Foundation, Art4Charity, Love Brum and WM Care Team. Each month, PPE for the UK will donate 5% of its profits to NHS Charities Together and an additional 5% to the local charities, on a rotational basis.
