North East joinery specialist expands workforce amid growth drive

A North East-based joinery firm has almost doubled its workforce after seeing an increase in demand for its services.

A I Joinery and Shopfitting has employed 18 new members of staff to fulfil a multi-million pound contract won at the end of 2019.

Founded in April 2018 by Adam Inskip, A I Joinery and Shopfitting began with just seven joiners.

Within eight months of launching, the firm’s workforce had almost trebled to meet high demand for its services.

Based on the outskirts of Newcastle, the company is currently working on projects around the country including Gateshead, Whitby, Bradford, Blackpool and Nottingham.

Founder and director Adam Inskip explained: “I have never been so busy. I have had to employ 18 workers and this will need to increase over the upcoming months due to the pipeline of work increasing dramatically!”

Commenting on working through the COVID-19 crisis, Adam continued: “I am one of the lucky ones to have continued working throughout this pandemic, and I consider myself extremely fortunate.

“It hasn’t been plain sailing for the business, with main contractors going bust and owing A I Joinery almost £100k of invoices, but I’ve pulled through and it seems all the hard work from myself and my workers is really starting to pay off now.”
