Ovenu Nottingham North experiences rise in demand as Tier 3 restrictions means more folk likely to be cooking Christmas dinner this year
Oven valeting business Ovenu Nottingham North is reporting a sharp rise in bookings as more people than usual prepare to cook Christmas dinner this year.
Large gatherings are likely to remain forbidden over the festive period as Nottinghamshire moves into Tier 3 restrictions - which prevents people hosting friends and family, unless they are part of the same household or in a support bubble.
Rob Sansom of Ovenu Nottingham North said the restrictions – combined with fewer pubs and restaurants opening or running at reduced capacity – means greater numbers are now preparing to serve up turkey with all the trimmings on December 25th.
He said: “Sadly, Nottingham is designated as a very high-alert area, which means you can’t mix with other households indoors or outdoors – which will be very difficult for many.
“The consequences are that more folk than usual are likely to be cooking Christmas dinner, when previously they enjoyed being invited to eat with extended family or friends.
“The run-up to December is always busy, but I’ve noticed a sharp rise in bookings and enquiries from people who perhaps wouldn’t normally go anywhere near an oven on Christmas Day.
“It’s arguably the most important meal of the year and I think householders want to prepare correctly. In addition, more people have been cooking during the pandemic and it may be that their ovens are simply ready for a good clean!”
Removing grease and grime from the oven brings out the taste and flavour of the food, banishes lurking bacteria and germs and reduces the risk of fire.
Added Rob: “Most people say oven cleaning is their least favourite kitchen chore, so it makes sense to have a professional carry out the task instead.
“However, if you do want your oven cleaned ready for Christmas then get in contact as quickly as possible to avoid disappointment.”
Ovenu Nottingham North continues to accept bookings at its discretion, with the strict stipulation that both parties observe the two-metre social distancing rule, along with guidelines on hygiene and cleanliness.
