Smooth sailing for Tyneside ship specialist with workforce expansion

A Tyneside ship repair business has expanded operations with the recruitment of 10 new members of staff.

A&P Tyne has taken on 10 new apprentices as part of its ongoing growth plans and commitment to talent development in the region.

Based in Hebburn, the company specialises in ship repair, conversion and fabrication services across the marine and energy sectors.

The new intake is made up of six apprentice welders, three apprentice platers, and one apprentice maintenance fitter, who will all be trained onsite while attending Tyne Met College on a day release basis.

Keith Henry, managing director of A&P North East, explained: “A&P Group is delighted to see our next intake of apprentices arrive on site and I wish them the very best for the future.

“A&P Tyne remains committed to employing apprentices as we firmly believe that apprenticeships are the lifeblood of our business. The development of the next generation of highly skilled trades people will not only benefit A&P, but the wider North East economy.”
