Tech platforms team up to help learning professionals
Two of Ireland’s fastest-growing tech companies have teamed up to support the UK&I job market, as the pandemic and a recession continue to create chaos for the global jobs market.
Shaw Academy, the education platform, and Jobbio, the careers marketplace, will launch ‘Shaw Careers’: a new partnership designed to give students easier access to career opportunities at top startups and tech companies around the country. The integration will see Jobbio’s job board in the Shaw Academy platform - giving students the ability to search and view jobs in their country, specific to the courses they are studying, via the directly within the platform. HR, talent and recruitment teams will also be able to extend their reach for job postings, reaching an audience of millions of professional students and improving their chances of finding the right talent with the right skills to succeed.
The launch comes as new figures show that a record 314,000 British workers were made redundant in the three months to September – over 180,000 more than in the second quarter, according to the Office for National Statistics (ONS). The challenges of this year have also led to a surge in professionals considering a career change: more than two thirds are now more likely to consider working in a different industry, as a result of the pandemic.
Since the start of this year, over ten million new students have signed up to Shaw Academy, with over half taking courses with the aim of bolstering their CV or skills with their careers in mind. Demonstrating dedication to creating a supportive pathway and outcome for its students, the partnership will give users access to job listings from across thousands of companies currently hiring on Dublin-based job platform Jobbio, including the likes of Airbnb and Slack.
Shaw Academy also recently partnered with a number of professional bodies including CPD, IAO and ICSOC, to ensure content can be externally validated and recognised by global professional bodies, meaning all courses are formally certified and bear the accredited approved logos and badges.
Jobbio CEO, Stephen Quinn, commented: “We’re really excited about adding Shaw Academy to our growing list of publishers and community partners globally. Shaw Academy offers its students courses to up-skill and re-skill so they can advance their careers. So naturally, Jobbio teaming up with Shaw Academy feels like the perfect partnership.
We’re looking forward to helping all of the Shaw Academy students continue their journey from studying online to landing a dream job.“
Commenting on the new partnership, James Egan, Founder and CEO of Shaw Academy said: “Students come to Shaw Academy looking to transform, and our aim is to provide them with the tools to go forth and succeed. A large majority are looking to progress professionally - and now, through the Shaw Careers partnership with Jobbio, we’ll able to create a ready-made outcome - supporting the student from starting a course to landing a new job. We’re proud to be supporting professionals while the labour market faces challenges, and look forward to helping some of our students land their dream role.”
