London entrepreneurs deck the halls with launch of eco-friendly Christmas tree delivery service
Three London entrepreneurs have announced that they are launching a new sustainable Christmas tree delivery service.
Tree2me.co.uk will deliver traditional Nordmann Fir Christmas trees in its new Covid-friendly service, and is aiming to support the sale of sustainably sourced trees through lockdown.
The company, which delivers trees grown on the outskirts of London, is offsetting its carbon emissions through a partnership with Tree-Nation, a reforestation platform.
It was established due to the difficulties people may have in visiting a Christmas tree farm during the pandemic, as well as the carbon footprint left by the transportation of the trees.
Matthew Ridd, chief marketing officer and co-founder, commented: “James, Benny and I (co-founders) started Tree2me.co.uk in a time where we felt that the magic of Christmas may, for many, be anxiety inducing, due to the strains Covid-19 have put on everyday life.
“We are all also facing a cataclysmic climate crisis, and our collective focus has unfortunately shifted from it, due to the ever-present pandemic.
“We hope that by introducing a sustainable and convenient delivery service to the Christmas tree market we can help alleviate the burden of anxiety this year, whilst doing our bit towards getting the climate back on track.”
Since Tree2me.co.uk’s first pre-launch sale on 13 November 2020, it has already funded the planting of trees which will offset 20,400KG of CO2 in their lifetime.
