OpenMoney cashes in on Smoking Gun to handle PR
OpenMoney, a low cost online financial advice platform for savers and investors, has appointed Smoking Gun to handle its PR campaign strategy and implementation.
The Manchester agency, which last year scooped two global awards for excellence in measurement and evaluation at the AMEC Awards, will support the brand on consumer PR campaigns and press office as it seeks to plug what it describes as the ‘financial advice gap’.
Founded in 2016, OpenMoney was created to help the millions of people who would benefit from financial advice but either can’t afford it, or are unable to access it.
It combines clever technology and human advisers to help people reach their financial goals, and make advice and investing accessible and affordable to everyone - regardless of age, wealth or experience.
Anthony Morrow, OpenMoney co-founder, said: “The team at Smoking Gun has vast experience not only in consumer media relations, but in the personal finance market as well. We were immediately impressed by their credentials, energy and understanding of our brief and business challenges.
“The team understands who we are and what we stand for as a business, and this new partnership comes at what is a period of exciting growth for us. We are hugely looking forward to seeing what the future holds with Smoking Gun.”
Managing director of Smoking Gun, Rick Guttridge, said: “We welcome OpenMoney to our roster of clients at an exciting period of growth for the agency. Our wealth of experience and expertise in the personal finance market, combined with OpenMoney’s ambitious growth plans, creates the perfect platform for us to deliver results that make a genuine business impact.
“The coronavirus pandemic has seen personal finance really come to the fore, as many people have had to reassess and reprioritise their finances and spending. It is a market that is often saturated with information, so we are delighted to help raise awareness for a brand that puts trust, support and accessibility at the centre of its values.”
OpenMoney currently offers advice and support in areas such as debt, money saving and pensions. It is also developing a mortgage advice line to launch later in the year.
