Female-founded interior design tech firm sizes up expansion with £700k investment
A female-founded interior design tech company has secured six-figure investment to expand its proposition.
Tech-enabled design service My Bespoke Room has secured £700k in funding from a range of angel investors, including high-net worth individuals from Angelgroups and Connected.
Founded in 2014 by Diana Greenhalgh and Laura Simpson, My Bespoke Room was launched in a bid to provide an affordable easy-to-use online interior design service.
The new investment will be used to scale the firm’s operations as well as invest in a new software as a service (SaaS) platform, which will feature smart algorithmic sourcing, automated ordering and integration with accounting software.
Laura Simpson, co-founder of My Bespoke Room, explained: “Globally, we are all spending more time in our homes; not only are they becoming more important to us, but we are demanding more from them.
“We feel very fortunate that our business is perfectly placed to succeed in a category that is experiencing such a shift in behaviour.
“There has been very little investment in our space to date, and we are very excited about our growth and our newly launched SaaS product that allows other designers to have a piece of our magic; to set up, run and grow their own businesses.’’
Martin Avison, founder of Angelgroups, commented: “Our angel investors seek out disruptive technologies that challenge the status quo. My Bespoke Room has always challenged the way things are done and this approach will help them to become a dominant player in the sector.
“We were delighted to connect Diana and Laura with experienced investors to support the next stage of their impressive growth.”
Claudia Stankler, founder and head of operations at Connected, added: “We saw an amazing opportunity to support two incredible female entrepreneurs in Laura and Diana.
“It’s been a pleasure to aid them in their fundraising process and we very much look forward to continuously supporting them in their journey.”
