Sheffield venue sets sights on the sky with new rooftop bar
A rooftop bar has revealed that it will opening its newest site in the centre of Sheffield later this week.
Alto, on the top floor of coworking office building Cubo, will officially open its doors to the public on Thursday (June 24).
The bar, on Carver Street, will be the second bar to open in recent weeks as part of Sheffield City Council and Queensberry’s £480m ‘Heart of the City’ scheme, which saw The Furnace open in Charter Square earlier this month.
Alto and Cubo, both under parent company Staton Young, have previously opened venues in Nottingham, with the new bar being Alto’s first Yorkshire location.
Rebecca Brough, co-founder of Alto, commented: “We are delighted to announce that Alto Sheffield will be opening this summer.
“We want to provide a fantastic space with a great atmosphere and bring a brand-new social hub to the city centre.
“Our new bar is ready and raring to go. We cannot wait to welcome everyone. It has been a challenging year for restaurants, bars and all the hospitality industry, so it feels great to finally be able to see our vision come to life.”
Terry Fox, leader of Sheffield City Council, said: “We are delighted to see another exciting venue open up in Sheffield City Centre this week.
“It has been a difficult year for everyone, so it’s particularly pleasing to see such a great social space open up for our residents and visitors to enjoy and another fantastic new addition to Sheffield’s evolving cityscape.”
