This week’s round up of Yorkshire appointments includes The Institute of Directors, CPH2 & Gordons. Read on to find out more.

Rich Davies & Hilary Claire Frazer, The Institute of Directors

The Institute of Directors has boosted its South Yorkshire team with the appointments of Rich Davies and Hilary Claire Frazer. As ambassadors, Rich and Hilary will support branch members to become better directors by providing connections, professional development and an influential lobbying voice.

Rich is business development manager at Highlander Computing Solutions. He previously worked for Sheffield Chamber of Commerce and became an elected member of the Chamber Council in 2018. He is passionate about supporting and contributing to the city.

Hilary Frazer is an organisation development director with extensive experience of transformation programmes and major change projects. She has worked for global companies in life sciences, financial and professional services, as well as international non-profit organisations.

IoD branch chair Victoria Clarke Brown said: “I am delighted to welcome Rich and Hilary to our South Yorkshire team. We are an active and collaborative branch with plenty of events in the pipeline, from exclusive behind-the-scenes tours to our ever-popular annual IoD South Yorkshire dinner.

James Hobson, CPH2

CPH2, the UK-based green hydrogen technology and manufacturing company that has developed the IP-protected Membrane-Free Electrolyser (“MFE”), is pleased to announce the appointment of James Hobson as Chief Financial Officer (“CFO”) and executive director.

James will join CPH2 from AMTE Power plc, where he has been CFO since October 2021. James has a wealth of experience across the energy sector, having worked as a senior finance executive in the sector for ten years.

Following the successful IPO in February 2022, CPH2 has invested significantly it its workforce, specifically in its engineering head count with ten additional process, mechanical, and electrical engineers joining earlier this year.

Jon Duffy, Chief Executive Officer of CPH2, commented: “We are excited to have James joining as CFO of CPH2. James’ expertise across the energy sector can be seen through his work with private and AIM listed companies across the past ten years and his knowledge will help us deliver on the opportunities ahead.”

James Hobson, incoming CFO, commented: “I am delighted to be joining CPH2 following its successful IPO in February. I believe CPH2 and its technology will have a significant role in the evolution of the hydrogen sector both in the UK and the wider world. The team has grown significantly this year and I look forward to supporting CPH2 in its future endeavours.”

Five appointments, Gordons

Law firm Gordons has welcomed its latest cohort of aspiring lawyers with the appointment of three new trainee solicitors and two apprentice solicitors. Antonia Nita, James Harrison and Arran Crump have started training contracts and will undertake four six-month seats which will see them involved across various Gordons specialisms.

The three new starters will benefit from the firm’s distinct approach to developing its trainee solicitors. This places as much emphasis on personal growth and relationship building as it does on enhancing professional skills.

Taylor Barker-Hales and Neve Cooper have joined the Gordons Law Apprenticeship, the firm’s pioneering, multiple award-winning apprenticeship scheme. As apprentices, they will both train to become qualified lawyers through a combination of hands-on experience and academic study. Gordons will pay their salary and course fees, meaning they will not accumulate any student debt.

Corporate partner Amy Pierechod is responsible for mentoring and managing the trainee solicitors whilst Gordons Law Apprenticeship graduate, Megan Stocks, will do the same for the apprentices.

Welcoming the new trainees and apprentices to the firm, Gordons partner, Victoria Davey, said: “All five of our new trainees and apprentices were exceptional during the recruitment process. Each one of them demonstrated their clear potential to become trusted advisers who will build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.”
