360 new digital marketing opportunities in West Yorkshire

Digital skills specialist Netcom Training has secured £378,750 from West Yorkshire Combined Authority (WYCA) to deliver bespoke training to more than 360 learners across the region.

The partnership with WYCA will see Netcom offering funded placements in the region for the first time, supporting people aged 19 and over from priority groups with flexible courses of up to 16 weeks, while helping employers to fill skills shortages they have identified.

As part of the Government-funded Free Courses for Jobs (FCfJ) course, learners will be able to study courses in Cyber Security Practices and Coding Practices. Additionally, as part of the Adult Education Budget (AEB) Bridging Programme, students will complete modules in Networking and Architecture, Cloud Services, Business Processes within an IT environment and Mobile and Operating Systems.

The programme aims to bridge the jump between Level 2 and Level 3 qualifications, and as such, Netcom learners will progress onto Level 3 courses or be provided employment in the IT industry, in roles including First Line Support Technician, Infrastructure Technician or Cloud Engineer.

Netcom, which recently achieved a ‘Good’ rating in its first ever Ofsted report – has created its portfolio of digital skills qualifications in direct response to barriers employers across the UK have identified, but to also offer the digital generation with an opportunity to use their experience in a professional capacity, according to the company’s MD, Kevin Vashi.

He said: “Learners of any age should always be able to access the skills they need to change the direction of their lives, and we are lucky to have a digital generation evolving in front of us that can harness their skills and make a true difference to all of our futures.

“The funding we’ve received from WYCA demonstrates that they have identified that opportunity too, and are keen to work alongside us to create the best possible learning resources.

“Furthermore, having our digital skills courses fully-funded by West Yorkshire Combined Authority removes any barriers that learners might perceive in terms of accessing training when it comes to cost, so all doors are open to them.

“As a result, not only will the lives of hundreds of people in the region be transformed, but the future local economy will thrive thanks to the digitally-tuned minds of the people who go on to use our learning modules.”

Birmingham-based Netcom Training has also secured funding from the West Midlands Combined Authority to provide 365 fully funded places on digital skills courses in the region, a further 380 fully funded places in Liverpool following funding from the Liverpool City Region Combined Authority (LCRCA), and 150 funded places in Greater Manchester after receiving investment from the Greater Manchester Combined Authority.
