Dan Lyon, Ward Hadaway
Law firm Ward Hadaway has appointed Dan Lyon as a partner in their growing Built Environment Team.
Dan, who is based at the firm’s office in Leeds, deals with a wide range of contentious and non-contentious construction and engineering matters and provides advice to a range of clients involving development, site and project issues including contract reviews and advising on potential disputes.
He brings with him over 17 years’ experience working with leading developers, contractors, subcontractors and lenders. He has particular knowledge and experience in the PBSA (Purpose Built Student Accommodation), logistics and BTR (build to rent) sectors, but also acting on developments in retail, energy, residential and sport.
Commenting on his new role, Dan, 40, said: “Ward Hadaway’s Built Environment Team is considered as one of the most experienced northern based teams in the sector. One of the main reasons which significantly attracted me to this role was the opportunity to help further grow the Built Environment Team and to build on the reputation already forged in the Yorkshire region.”
Stephen Radcliffe, a partner in the Built Environment Team, said: “I’d like to offer a warm welcome to Dan and I know he will add great value to the service we provide to new and existing clients. He has a wealth of experience and is joining us at a really exciting time as we continue to strengthen and grow our service right across the North. I’m looking forward to working with him.”
Emma Jickells, The Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce
The Mid Yorkshire Chamber of Commerce has expanded its team with the appointment of a new export certification supervisor, Emma Jickells, to manage the day-to-day workings of its MY Export Hub department.
Jickells will lead the drive on compliance procedures, accuracy levels and service delivery standards, as a British Chamber of Commerce (BCC) accredited Chamber.
Martin Hathaway, managing director at the Mid Yorkshire Chamber, said: “We’re thrilled to welcome Emma to the team, supporting our Chamber in our aim to connect, support and represent organisations across Halifax, Huddersfield and Wakefield. Emma is already proving to be a vital asset to the team in overseeing the smooth running of our day-to-day services.”
Speaking of her new role, Emma added: “The history of the Chamber speaks for itself, and I am excited to be part of such a long-standing institution. I’m very excited to be involved in the future of the Chamber, expanding our customer base and ensuring a continuing excellent service. My team have been very welcoming and it’s lovely to be around like-minded people.”
Vicky Taylor, Knightsbridge Furniture
Bradford-based contract furniture company, Knightsbridge Furniture, expands its team with the appointment of Vicky Taylor as the new national business development manager.
Vicky will be supporting the Knightsbridge Furniture team to grow the business across all sectors, with a particular national focus on mental health and healthcare environments. Her new role will involve exploring trends across the contract furniture industry and analysing how those trends positively influence interior choices within care settings.
Speaking about her new appointment: “I’m thrilled to have been appointed as the National Business Development Manager at Knightsbridge. This is a great opportunity for me to utilise my skills and previous experience to grow the business even further.
“I have a huge passion for furniture, and enjoy collaborating with partners across multiple sectors, so this role is the perfect fit. I’m looking forward to working alongside a dynamic and forward-thinking team.”
Laura Nicholas, Dacre, Son & Hartley
Yorkshire’s largest independent estate agent, Dacre, Son & Hartley, has promoted Laura Nicholas to head of its customer services centre.
Laura joined Dacres in 2015 as a customer services representative and is also a qualified mortgage advisor, which further enhances her understanding of the property market.
In her new role, Laura will lead the customer services team who work with clients at all stages of their property journey. She will also provide internal training across the firm’s 21 offices, throughout West and North Yorkshire, on best practice requirements and software systems.
Laura said: “Few estate agents have a dedicated customer services centre, but it’s vital to always be on hand for clients at what can be a stressful time. As a team we pride ourselves on being there to offer all types of help and advice to keep their sale or purchase on track and running smoothly.
“We’re also there to support our colleagues across our 21 offices, which ultimately makes their lives easier and helps them deliver the best results for clients.”
