This week’s North East appointments: Featuring Mincoffs, Bellway and JUMP

This week’s round up of North East appointments includes Mincoffs Solicitors, Bellway and JUMP. Read on to find out more.

(L - R): Amy Campbell, Jenny Harrison, Grace Hughes and Claire Devapal: Mincoffs Solicitors

A series of appointments and promotions has further strengthened the offering at a Newcastle corporate and commercial law firm. Mincoffs Solicitors has bolstered its corporate team with two new fee earners, with solicitor Grace Hughes qualifying into the department after completing her training contract with the firm and Jenny Harrison joining as a paralegal.

The residential conveyancing department at the firm has also welcomed solicitor Claire Devapal as the latest appointment to its 30-strong team. Claire brings more than 15 years’ experience to her new role and advises clients on all aspects of residential conveyancing, from property purchases and sales to re-mortgages and equity release.

Elsewhere in the business, trainee solicitor Amy Campbell has commenced her first seat in Mincoffs’ employment and commercial services departments, with two more trainee solicitors set to start their training contracts in March 2023.

The new starters are the latest in a period of sustained growth for the firm, which has included increased recruitment of both fee earners and support staff, along with the appointment of chief operating officer Julie Parr, who joined the firm in September.

Senior partner Paul Hughes commented: “This is a very exciting time to be joining Mincoffs as we have some really fantastic projects underway which will benefit both our clients and our staff. Claire, Grace, Jenny and Amy are brilliant additions to the team and we look forward to seeing them progress through their careers with us.”

Neil Beamsley, Bellway

Bellway has created a new head office role in a bid to ensure the developments that it builds have a positive effect on the natural environment. The housebuilder has recently appointed Neil Beamsley as group head of biodiversity, based at its national HQ in Newcastle.

Neil, who took up the position in September, said: “My role is to make sure that when Bellway finishes building a new development, the environment is in better condition than it was before construction started. The company has a holistic strategy called ‘Better with Bellway’ and biodiversity is a key facet within that, as it manages its impact on nature.”

New legislation, under The Environment Act 2021, will be mandatory from November 2023 for all developers to deliver a 10 per cent biodiversity net gain. Biodiversity net gain is an approach to development and land management which aims to leave the natural environment in a measurably better state.

Neil continued: “I will be working with all 22 divisions within Bellway, and colleagues in head office, to ensure that we can hit those targets. As part of this strategy, I will be offering support and training to all departments to oversee our move towards achieving these targets and beyond.”

Neil, who graduated from Newcastle University with a degree in ecology in 2001, worked for The Wildlife Trust, Natural England and for local councils before taking on a role as an ecological consultant for a number of companies. During his 12 years in this consultancy role, he worked with Bellway on many occasions.

Neil concluded: “My post is an exciting new role and one that Bellway, as a responsible housebuilder, is taking very seriously. Everyone in the company, from the boardroom down, is embracing the challenge.”

Kasey Murphy and Alana Whenary, JUMP

JUMP, headquartered in Newcastle upon Tyne, has appointed Kasey Murphy as marketing manager and Alana Whenary as marketing assistant as it expands into digital marketing services. Its venture into a comprehensive digital marketing offering adds to the brand and design services JUMP is already highly regarded for.

Kasey, who joins with over five years of experience in digital marketing, will lead the marketing arm of the agency, advising clients on digital marketing strategy. She also joins the senior leadership team at JUMP as marketing the business itself becomes a Board priority for the company.

Following a successful digital marketing apprenticeship, Alana has been offered a full-time role as a marketing assistant, working alongside Kasey on client delivery and raising the profile of Jump as a brand, digital marketing and design consultancy.

Rob Brown, founder and managing director at JUMP, commented: “We’re pleased to welcome Kasey and Alana to the team. Kasey, supported by Alana, joins at a pivotal moment in JUMP’s growth journey.

“Whilst our core business is focused on brand and design, many clients are keen for us to manage and advise on their digital marketing strategy too, which is why we’ve decided to offer digital marketing support as a standalone service.”

Kasey said: “I was immediately attracted to JUMP because of the culture the agency has alongside its high quality and extremely creative work. Digital marketing is an area I’m very passionate about and JUMP offers me the opportunity to work directly with clients on their digital marketing strategy.

Alana added: “When I started my apprenticeship, I was a bit nervous, but the team put me at ease immediately. It’s such a welcoming environment and we’re a close-knit group - I’ve enjoyed every minute of my time here. I was extremely pleased to be offered a full-time role as the clients and the work JUMP delivers resonates very strongly with me.”
