Gateshead renewable energy business expands to meet “surging” demand
A North East renewable energy business aims to connect regional households to high quality solar panel installation and support services to meet the “surging” demand for renewable energy supplies.
Gateshead based North East Solar, overseen by technical director Andrew Clough, is employing a team of skilled and experience installers, who will directly supply and fit solar panels and photovoltaic (PV) cells on to the roofs of existing or new build properties across County Durham, Teesside, Tyne and Wear and Northumberland.
The move comes as the “soaring” price of utilities together with the scrapping of VAT on panels in 2022 by the Chancellor, is driving strong consumer interest in solar power systems.
The UK solar power market is expected to grow by more than 5 per cent annually in the next five years with the North East seeing a surge, creating demand for products and installation services.
Residents can save money as the cost-of-living crisis continues to bite, said Peter Conroy, an investor in North East Solar. He estimates that household electricity bills can be reduced by up to 70 per cent and is targeting those looking to achieve long-term savings.
Developers, housing associations, local authorities, landlords and homeowners are also investing in solar powered energy systems for their properties.
Currently employing a seven-strong team of installers under Andrew Clough, North East Solar expects to see strong growth this year as it gears-up to invest further in expanding and developing its operations, infrastructure and service offering.
New jobs in installation, administration and sales are expected to follow over the next six months as the regional solar installation industry rapidly expands. North East Solar, which aims to achieve sales revenues of £2m within the first year of trading, will help customers connect directly with renewable technologies and experienced installers.
Peter Conroy commented: “North East sales of solar panels are on the rise as escalating energy bills make them a far more attractive prospect for property owners, who see them as an attractive, cost-effective alternative to traditional power supplies.
“We have launched the company, employing our own dedicated specialists, to provide a transparent, high-quality and direct installation service. We also use specialist software to allow us to survey properties remotely, providing customers with even more value before we visit their properties.”
