Nik Smith & Michael Simmons, Oakes Energy Services
Oakes Energy Services has appointed experienced HVAC & Renewables specialist Nik Smith as its new director, to drive the growth and expansion of the business. Nik’s appointment coincides with the opening of a new, additional office for Oakes Energy Services in Newcastle, housing its commercial team.
Nik was born into an engineering family and has worked in the industry for more than 30 years, beginning his career as an apprentice at Crown Housing Engineering. He worked nationally delivering major projects for the Swedish engineering giant ABB before being was headhunted by Australasia’s largest HVAC specialist, at the time Hastie Group, to deliver major projects in New Zealand.
Nik returned to the UK to create and run his award-winning HVAC businesses for more than 20 years, which he sold recently to investors.
Joining Nik in the growing commercial team in Michael Simmons, who joins at general manager. With over three decades of management experience, Michael will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the business and project activities within Oakes Energy Services.
Nik said: “Oakes has a great reputation, and as part of the larger PHS group of businesses it will continue to play a key part in helping its customers meet their low carbon energy ambitions, I am thrilled for Michael to join us on the journey, along with Jason the three of us have been competitors for decades so to unite as a team is exciting.”
James Hart, TIG Group
Gateshead-based business advisors and accountants, TIG Group is expanding with the appointment of James Hart who has joined TIG Accountants as Director of Accountancy Services.
James, formally of Murray & Lamb Accountants, has over 25 years of experience and has joined TIG Accountants during a period of exceptional growth and demand for their services.
Speaking on his appointment, James said “It is an exciting time to join TIG Accountants and I’m looking forward to helping the company grow while getting to know our existing client base”.
He continued, “Throughout my career, I have built and nurtured client relationships and moving to TIG Accountants allows me to continue working closely with ambitious local SMEs”. This is the first of several new appointments expected in 2023 for TIG Group as TIG Accountants and TIG Corporate Finance both look to recruit further due to increased demand for services.
Andy Elliot, Indigo Software
Indigo Software, a leading global provider of best of breed warehouse management system (WMS) solutions, has recruited warehousing mobile devices sales specialist, Andy Elliott, to the role of Global Hardware Sales Manager. Reporting into Indigo’s chief sales officer, this is a new position within Indigo’s sales management team and was created as a result of the ongoing success of Indigo’s WMS solutions worldwide.
The Global Hardware sales manager role is an important addition to the Indigo sales team and illustrates the high levels of strategic commitment the company has made to its technology partners, which include Honeywell and IBM.
Andy Elliott’s responsibilities at Indigo will include engaging with existing customers to understand their hardware requirements and supporting a seamless renewal strategy with no business disruption. Andy will also be supporting new customers wishing to purchase hardware only, offering them impartial advice about the best products to suit their warehousing business objectives.
Mark Leavy, chief sales officer at Indigo says, “We are delighted to be welcoming Andy to the sales team. He has a fantastic track record in the industry and we expect him to add a huge amount of value to customer decision making when it comes to hardware specifications.”
