Net Zero Retrofit Firm Ecogee Acquired By Social Housing Provider The Regenda Group
Energy and construction specialist Ecogee has been acquired by award-winning Registered Social Housing provider, The Regenda Group.
Based in Aintree and led by Managing Director Brendan Helm, Ecogee has been providing green energy solutions across the North West since 2012, and specialises in fitting existing homes and new build properties with energy efficient solutions on behalf of local authorities, social housing providers and private developers.
The news will see The Regenda Group, which has approximately 13,000 homes in Merseyside, Greater Manchester, Cheshire and Lancashire, acquire the firm, however it will be ‘business as usual’ for Ecogee and its 60 staff. The Regenda Group also owns M&Y Construction and Maintenance, which will be the division of the business that will work closest with Ecogee.
Brendan said: “We’ve had a fantastic few years as a firm and we are delighted with the acquisition. We’ll continue to do what we do best and support both our new and existing clients; but now with the added benefit of a successful group behind us, we are able to offer unmatched knowledge and the best resources that will ultimately help develop Ecogee even further.”
Ecogee was first established in response to the Government’s Energy Efficiency Programme, to tackle fuel poverty and reduce carbon emissions. In October 2022, it was named Best Trades Business at the Merseyside Independent Business Awards and the company prides itself on being ‘a local business that goes out of its way to support people and communities across the region’.
M&Y Managing Director Gill Kelly said: “As a regeneration group that includes a housing association, we understand the pressure of fuel poverty and the shortage of great contractors in the market to service the growing demand for energy efficiency works.
“By bringing the expertise of Ecogee into The Regenda Group, we are confident that we can increase the capacity within the supply chain to deliver energy-efficient improvement works to existing and new clients.”
The Regenda Group is a group of companies working across different sectors to help improve outcomes for people. They operate across the housing and construction sector, in care and support, and in education training and careers.
Brendan added: “This is one of the biggest changes in our 11-year-history and we know that the expertise we have in the energy sector will really enhance what we can offer moving forward. The potential we have in delivering green solutions and working towards government net zero targets is considerable and we are looking forward to working together and achieving great things.”
