7 steps to get more clients as a business owner by Business expert Charlie Day
Business expert Charlie Day, author of business bestseller ‘Sales is Easy, If You Just Know How,’ tells all about how to consistently bring in more clients to your business.
One of the biggest roadblocks for small business owners is getting clients consistently. Perhaps they’ve already grown a successful business but aren’t sure what to do to get to the next level? Or perhaps they’ve got a system in place but are looking to go from ad hoc projects to consistent clients every single month. Whatever your business growth goals are, most businesses need a steady stream of leads and to make more sales. Let’s take a look at seven things you can do right now to bring more clients into your business.
1. Work on your mindset.
If you want to be the best salesperson you can possibly be, you need to have the mindset of a successful business owner. Think you can - and you will! I always talk about setting clear goals in your business and writing this goal down every single day can drastically increase your chance of making it happen. But you have to truly believe in what you do and how much it helps others.
2. Get your Messaging spot on
As a business owner, your messaging needs to be clear and stand out to your ideal client. But is it? Is your messaging talking directly to them and calling out their biggest problems? It’s not enough just to tell people about what you do. Instead, it’s about showing them how you can help them. Once you do that, everything changes.
3. Market yourself
Sales and marketing go hand in hand. Now we have nailed the messaging, you need to get it out there in a big way. This will help you make sure your marketing is loud and takes up space to attract your ideal client in. This can take so many different forms-social media is great but I’m a fan of old-fashioned marketing too! Networking with local businesses and sending out flyers can be just as great for visibility.
4. Map out your customer’s journey
Now think about your sales structure - is your customer journey clear? You need to have a sales structure that takes your clients from finding out about you, to buying from you and becoming raving fans who shout about you and keep buying from you. This doesn’t happen overnight and most sales come after you’ve cultivated that relationship.
5. Are you asking for the sale?
This is my biggest piece of advice: we need to ask for the sale, and we need to make sure it’s time bound and compelling! Why should they buy? And why should they buy right now?
6. The fortune is in the follow up
How often are you following up? Following up is vital to an excellent sales process. The average lead takes 7 follow ups, so if you’re not following up you are leaving money on the table!
7. Let’s grow and scale.
Once we’ve nailed a sales strategy that works, it’s time to scale it. Focus and concentrate on your sales strategy and your business will reach new heights.
