David Guy, Wingrove Motor Company

A family-owned North East car dealership group has added one of the regional motor retail industry’s best-known names to its senior leadership team.

David Guy has joined Wingrove Motor Company as its new group commercial director and is now part of the directorship team that is driving the business’s profitability, customer service standards and future expansion plans. David brings almost three decades’ industry experience to his new role, the last decade of which was gained as head of business for Stratstone Tyneside BMW.

David Guy says: “From my first meeting with the Wingrove management team, it was clear that there was an exciting opportunity to join a dealership with real growth ambitions and that the experience and insight I could offer were exactly what they were looking for.

“Their professional approach and clear strategy for the business really ignited my interest and got me excited about rising to a new challenge, while the family values and ethos on which Wingrove’s success has been built offers the firmest of foundations for its future development. **Cllr Joan Nicholson, Durham County Council

A council’s new chair has chosen to raise funds for organisations which support grassroots clubs for young people, and those living with dementia. Cllr Joan Nicholson was elected as chair of Durham County Council at the authority’s annual meeting and will be supported in her duties over the coming year by Cllr Mike McGaun, who will serve as vice-chair.

Cllr Nicholson served as acting chair from March of this year, following the passing of Cllr Beaty Bainbridge in February. For her official year in post, Cllr Nicholson will fundraise for two charities which support the health and wellbeing of the community.

The first is the Durham Association of Boys and Girls Clubs, which helps the development of clubs in areas of need, giving young people the opportunity to take part in activities that increase their personal and social development. The charity has helped around 70 clubs in the County Durham area.

The chair will also use her role to fundraise for The Alzheimer’s Society which supports people living with dementia and their families, as well as providing funding for research into the condition.

Cllr Nicholson said: “I am honoured to have been elected as chair of Durham County Council for this year and to be carrying on the legacy from Beaty, who was a very dear friend and remains a huge loss to the community and wider county.”

**Jamie Jefferson, Test Driven Solutions

Rapidly expanding North East-based technology consultancy, Test Driven Solutions, has announced the appointment of new managing director, Jamie Jefferson.

Having previously served as the organisation’s finance director, Jamie brings over ten years of commercial and finance experience to the role. The appointment comes as Test Driven Solutions continues its expansion across the UK, Europe and North America.

Jamie commented: “I’m absolutely thrilled to continue to work alongside Sam and the TDS team in my new role, supporting the organisation in achieving client goals. I look forward to further strengthening TDS’ position as the North East’s leading tech consultancy, as well as maintaining the organisation’s reputation for its positive workplace culture.”
