Ben Felton, Avant Homes East Midlands
Nottingham based Avant Homes East Midlands has appointed a managing director to lead the housebuilder’s regional expansion strategy. Ben Felton, who was previously a managing director for Persimmon Homes, has 16 years’ experience in the housebuilding industry.
In his new role, Ben is responsible for further expanding Avant Homes’ operations across the East Midlands region by working closely with the company’s land, construction, technical and sales teams.
Ben commented: “Avant Homes is an ambitious company and one which I am very pleased to have joined. I am leading a great team in the East Midlands, all of whom are dedicated to growing our business and delivering more of our new range of homes throughout the region.
“The new house types have been very well received so we are focused on securing further development opportunities to make them available to more people in the places where they want to live.”
Welcoming Ben to the business, Avant Homes regional chairman, Mark Cook, added: “Ben is an experienced managing director with excellent leadership skills. He is a superb addition to Avant Homes and will be intrinsic in further shaping our business and driving it forward in the East Midlands.”
Christine Rishton, Weightmans
National law firm Weightmans has appointed principal associate Christine Rishton to its energy and environment team. Christine is a commercial solicitor with an extensive range of experience and a particular focus on advising upon long-term energy infrastructure projects aimed at delivering the Government’s Net Zero Strategy.
Christine helps clients with energy performance contracts and decentralised energy schemes as well as advising clients on offtake arrangements as more and more non-fuelled energy power stations come online. She joins the firm from the Carbon Energy Fund, where she was an in-house solicitor.
Christine commented: “There is rightly a global focus upon increasingly lower carbon, smarter and decentralised energy network schemes that will not only bring about environmental advantages but also provide greater energy resilience at a domestic or even local level.
“There are also genuine promises we have made as a nation to deliver a carbon neutral economy. Weightmans is clearly committed to reaching net zero and assisting clients in meeting this target too, and I am pleased to have joined a firm that takes its role as an advisor to companies and also its own role as an energy consuming business so seriously.”
Simon Colvin, partner and head of the environment team at Weightmans, added: “Christine brings with her a wealth of knowledge and experience in advising public bodies and investors on such projects, often faced with challenging timescales. We are thrilled to welcome her to the team.”
John Roach, Lovell Homes
A new head of operations has been appointed by Lovell Homes for its North West region. John Roach has loyally worked at the national housebuilder for 15 years, starting his career as a management trainee and progressing through the ranks, from site manager to project manager and then contract manager.

John said: “Lovell is a fantastic business, committed to providing the best training and progression for lifelong careers. It has always been a goal of mine to reach this milestone, and I have been tremendously lucky to have the support and guidance of the teams around me. For those currently starting out as trainees, hopefully this shows what is possible.
“I’ve got a big job to do as head of operations, with my immediate priority being to meet the year-end forecast and the agenda set by Lovell for the next few years. There is so much potential in this region and I will be placing a sharp focus on quality and customer satisfaction.”
Paul Challinor, Lovell’s regional managing director for the North West, added: “John has shown great dedication to Lovell after starting nearly 15 years ago on our management training programme and has consistently proven his strengths and experience in collaboration with all departments to progress through the ranks.
“He was the standout candidate for the role, and I’m delighted to get the opportunity to work closely with someone who is clearly very dedicated and extremely talented.
