Kent manufacturer makes “cutting-edge” investment via seven-figure HSBC support
Offset Print & Packaging have installed the UK’s first Koenig & Bauer Rapida 145 printing press, following a seven-figure funding package from HSBC UK Equipment Finance.
The Kent based firm used HSBC UK funding to purchase a 40m long and 167 tonne press, which will enable the company to print 16,000 1450x1060mm sheets of cartonboard per hour, to a higher quality than ever before.
Automation and energy-saving features also enable Offset to offer highly decorative packaging products, on a large-format scale, at cost-effective prices. Offset’s focus on environmentally sustainable packaging supports the government’s single-use plastic ban by helping companies switch to cardboard.
To ensure the new press would be utilised to its maximum potential, eight Offset employees attended extensive training at the Koenig & Bauer production facility in Germany.
This was in addition to Offset hiring six new staff in production and administration roles to manage the additional work the business is winning, which precipitated the machine upgrade.
Edward Bone, Offset managing director, sales at Offset Print & Packaging, commented: “Custom-branded packaging plays a crucial role in shaping a company’s identity.
“This new press solidifies our status as a cutting-edge printing manufacturer, enabling us to support customers with their ever-changing packaging needs, and deliver innovative solutions. HSBC UK is a critical partner in this process and we are grateful for their competitive support over many years.”
Simon France, deputy head of corporate HSBC Equipment Finance UK, added: “Offset’s investment in its printing capability with the new Rapida 145 printing press shows a clear commitment to innovation and quality. Helping Offset secure the latest equipment is critical to helping this well-established business as it continues to grow.”
Established over 50 years ago, Offset Print & Packaging specialises in the design and manufacture of high-end, custom packaging for many clients, including high-end London department stores, Sony Computer Entertainment, and Lipton Teas and Infusions.
