Gateshead Metrocentre launches new multi-million-pound leisure experience
Treetop Golf has officially opened at the Metrocentre, Gateshead, its fifth UK destination. The leisure operator has invested over £2.5m to bring their extraordinary mini golf experience to life inside Metrocentre, Gateshead.
The 17,500 sq ft adventure-packed mini-golf venue opened its jungle doors on Friday 6 October in the Upper Qube of the Metrocentre, to offer guests an ‘extraordinary and immersive’ mini golf experience.
A spokesperson describes the new experience: “From the minute guests enter Treetop Golf, they will be transported to an imaginative wonderland where they’ll adventure through wondrous terrain and come across mystic temples, ancient wonders and lively locals across two completely different 18-hole courses.”
Treetop Golf committed to investing over £2.5m and creating more than 20 jobs locally. The Tropical Trail course will challenge customers to dodge colourful creatures, mystic woods and loco locals through a jungle theme.
Once visitors’ ‘appetite for adventure’ is fulfilled, they can delve into The Market for cocktails, mocktails, nibbles and sweet treats in collaboration with local suppliers including Full Circle Brew Co, Pink Lane Coffee Collective and Cake Stories.
Elizabeth Stanway, CEO and Co-Founder of Treetop Golf commented: “We’re so excited to open the jungle doors today and welcome Metrocentre visitors to our latest immersive mini golf destination. We’re here for everyone - from family days out to student hangouts, date nights, work get-togethers and celebrations.
“We can’t wait to transport our guests to another place, for them to experience wonder and play and make special memories together.”
Ben Cox of Sovereign Centros, Senior Asset Manager for Metrocentre, added: “The arrival of Treetop Golf adds another exciting dimension to the offer at Metrocentre, which has further strengthened in recent weeks since the opening of the region’s only Zara.
“We are also getting ready to open the doors on flagship stores for Flannels, Sports Direct and Everlast Gym this November reinforcing our position as the dominant location for shopping and leisure in the North East.”
