Young actors making local film

The moral dilemma facing a group of youngsters when their parents cover up a murder is at the centre of a movie being made in the region over the next two weeks. Damage (working title) is a project put together by Creative Partnerships North and South Tyneside, which has been working with 16 schools to create a full length feature film to be shown next year. A core group of young actors are working with professional performers to make the movie, although dozens more will be involved behind the scenes and with the creation of a musical soundtrack.

Young people from Harton Technology College in South Shields and Goathland School in North Tyneside have taken on the starring roles and the fim is being shot across Northumberland, North and South Tyneside and Newcastle up until September. Newcastle-based company Dene Films are working with the young people on the movie, which has received funding from the Postcode Lottery. Once completed it will be edited in October and November, with plans for a major premiere in April 2007.
