£2.50 To Check In Luggage With Ryanair
Ryanair is to start charging passengers for checking in luggage. From March 16, passengers flying with the low-cost airline will pay a fee of £2.50 per bag checked in if the flight is booked in advance on the website, or £5 per bag in the flight is paid for at the airport. The airline is also planning to reduce fares by 9 per cent – equivalent to about £2.50 – meaning that passengers travelling with only one bag should experience no difference to overall amount paid for the flight.EU passengers with only hand luggage will also be able to check-in on the web to by-pass airport queues, and these passengers will be given priority boarding.
Michael O’Leary, Ryanair’s Chief Executive said: “These changes will enable Ryanair to reduce our airport and handling costs across the network. We will require fewer and less expensive airport facilities such as airport check-in and baggage hall facilities. We will carry fewer bags making our aircraft lighter and improving our fuel consumption. Ryanair is Europe’s largest low fares airline. For more information see www.ryanair.com
