Boost For Pioneering North East E-Commerce Solution
An innovative North East e-commerce solution took a step closer to market this week after entering beta testing with a little help from the world’s largest e-trading organisation - eBay.
Designed as an inexpensive alternative to the established internet trading methods, Platform One’s etrader product seamlessly links Sage’s SME accountancy packages to eBay, allowing stock carrying businesses to automatically launch their goods on the world’s largest trading forum. Stephen Bales, Director of Platform One, explains the decision to link to eBay: “We chose to link to eBay.co.uk because it is synonymous with internet merchant trading, attracting 47% of all UK internet traffic to its site every month. “Amazingly, this still seems to be the best kept secret from many businesses that are often influenced by the enduring popular perceptions of eBay as an online car boot sale.
The reality couldn’t be further from the truth. There are literally thousands of businesses selling on eBay.co.uk, including several household names such as Hewlitt-Packard and Cannon, who are benefiting from this huge selling opportunity with the minimum of effort and expense. eBay is undoubtedly the future of merchant ecommerce trading.“ The product, which recently scooped the Most Innovative Sage Addition 2005 award, has now entered the beta testing phase ahead of its launch in March 2006.
Mr Bales added: “We recently met with eBay who are extremely enthusiastic about our solution and the substantial time cost benefits it presents to business sellers. They have assisted us by providing essential introductions to a large number of PowerSellers, many of whom have agreed to test the product and have supplied us with indispensable feedback.”
