Cedar-clad cube design scoops another award nomination

A North East architect firm has been shortlisted for a national award for its office development design which takes the form of two cedar-clad cubes. RyderHKS received the nomination in the British Council for Offices Awards for its design of the Quadrus Centre building in Boldon. The BCO award is the third accolade the Newcastle-based firm has received for the £5million development - others include a Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors North East Renaissance Award and Best Building in South Tyneside’s Good Design Awards.Leader of South Tyneside Council, Councillor Paul Waggott said: “The Quadrus Centre symbolises the new spirit of confidence, enterprise and ambition in South Tyneside. It is a superb example of the enormous changes that are taking place around us. It forces people to change their perception of the Borough. “The introduction of such iconic projects that jolt the imagination, surprise, challenge and raise expectations plays a key part in the regeneration of South Tyneside.“RyderHKS will go on to compete for top honours in the national finals to be held in London in October. RyderHKS already has a track record of wins from the prestigious British Council for Offices Awards, with previous successes including their design of the Generator Studios in Newcastle and for their refurbishment of UK Land Estates HQ in Team Valley, Gateshead.
