Dance you way into record books this Saturday

This Saturday is The Big Dance – a chance for North East residents to dance their way in the Guinness World Record Books. Help break the record for the greatest number of people participating in a dance class simultaneously by being one of the 4000 members of the public to put on their dancing shoes and shimmy down to Gateshead’s Baltic Square and Hartlepool Maritime Experience. 30,000 people across the country will be doing the same thing elsewhere in the country.The Big Dance Class is part of Big Dance, a week-long, England-wide celebration of dance taking place between 15 - 23 July 2006 and will form part of a major live BBC 1 broadcast on the evening of the 22 July 2006. The programme, Dancing in the Street, will be hosted by entertainment legend Bruce Forsyth. It will showcase Big Dance events across England, including live coverage of a mass dance spectacular in Trafalgar Square, London. The climax of the programme will be the announcement of a new World Record, set earlier in the day by all the people across the country who took part in their local Big Dance Class.The Big Dance Class record attempt will take place between 12.30pm and 12.40pm precisely, though people are invited to come and join in the fun from 11am. Dance experts will be leading the dance and hosting free taster sessions in different styles of dance throughout the day. The Big Dance Class is for people of all ages but you must register your place by going to www.bbc.co.uk/tyne, www.bbc.co.uk/wear or www/bbc.co.uk/tees to download a registration form or calling the CSV Action Desk on 0191 221 2815 for BBC Radio Newcastle or 01642 340612 for BBC Radio Cleveland to get a form posted to you. You must bring your registration form along with you, although because of limited space this form does not guarantee entry.
