Early start for new NECC chief

The newly appointed Chief Executive of the North East Chamber of Commerce (NECC) will kick off the Big Day Event next Thursday (6 July) by sharing his vision with the region’s most influential employers at a breakfast briefing.In one of his first official engagements before he takes up the post as Chief Executive of the NECC on 17 July, James Ramsbotham will share why he believes that success is achieved by meeting the aspirations of customers and the importance of raising the aspirations of the region’s young people. He will also give an insight in to what lies ahead for him in his new role and how he intends to define success for the North East Chamber of Commerce. James will be supported by Michael Motley, director of business development at Newcastle College, the recently awarded “North East Company of the Year”. Michael will discuss what solutions are available to your business to deal with skills shortages in your sector.The Big Day Event at Sunderland’s Stadium of Light is the celebratory finale of this year’s Business Week Tyne & Wear. This week-long celebration of business encompasses a series of local events and activities aimed at promoting employment and business opportunities, raising aspirations and highlighting local success stories across the region from 30 June to 6 July.The event is free to attend and includes a line-up of workshops led by top speakers, including the 25 year old winner of Channel 4’s “Make Me a Million” TV show, Leila Wilcox, alongside , an interactive Business Showcase. The showcase will be a key part of the day’s events to give local companies the opportunity to demonstrate their products, inventions and services, raise awareness of career opportunities and enable them to network for potential new business collaboration.
