First Ever Computer Bug Photo
Computers are sensitive beasts - it doesn’t take much before they freeze up, make alarming guttural noises and throw up essential yet entirely baffling error messages: ‘An error has occurred. No help is available for %d - an asynchronous request is pending. Yes/Yes to All/Rename’. Sometimes, between furiously smacking the keyboard and cursing at the monitor, you might wonder about the origins of computer bugs, and why indeed they’re called that. Well, the first ever computer bug was actually a moth, and it was picked out of the machine and taped to an error log in 1945.
